"La CAVE" 1960

Bob Shannon and Kathy Wilhelm were the original members of Les Deux, an early 1960's folk group who played as a regular opening act for such unknown stars as Bob Gibson, Gordon-Lightfoot, Simon and Garfunkel, Velvet Underground, Tom Paxton and more at La Cave in Cleveland Ohio.

La Cave was an esoteric Beatnik habitat which switched over to folk music in 1961 and hosted many unknowns who later became quite famous.

"Les Deux" picked up a standup bass player in 1964 and toured much of the NE section of the country. They broke up as a group in 1966 when Bob married and moved to Hollywood to pursue advanced musical partners, ending up with his wife Jane. The name changed to "Bob and Jane" and played clubs through

the western US until retiring in 1983 in Mendocino California. Coincidentally Bob Gibson also retired to the Mendocino area and passed away in the mid 1990's..

In his high school years, Bob started one of the first rock and roll groups in Cleveland Ohio with

drummer Tom West, now retired and Mike Hay on guitar. Mike still plays music and records CD's in his recording studio in Colorado. His last release was a mix of old and new genres based loosely on his life as a Navy Seal and hitch hiking vagabond.

After leaving The Islanders, Bob continued his education in music at the Cleveland  Institute of Music and Western Reserve University as well as Cuyahoga Community College. Bob played reeds for the Cleveland Public Recording orchestra based in Lakewood Ohio.
