A Time to Remember

It is twilight and cool.....the thistle is turning into down yet a few buds still remain. This bee is proof positive that there is at least something worth getting on the flora. Now in real life I am an editorial photographer. Been one for over 40 years. Hunted out fires and accidents. Took pictures of basketball games; so many I cannot even remember. They blend in with the baseball and track...both indoors and out, and the soccer and football, although I disliked shooting a film camera from a high school sidelines in the dead of winter, after dark. Try that with your Tri-X. So close-ups of thistle and bees, blue flowers and purple, red and yellow are all new to me. Somehow it feels like a good way for a photographer to retire....yet in my blood there still are wars to be covered and deaths to be memorialized. I sit here in the evening and type these words, wishing secretly that I were out on the road, traveling at high speeds to the scene of some import. This feeling is in my blood...and in my mind....as I sit in the twilight, posting a notation as concerns a bee, feeding the last from the thistle... Time it was and what a time it was it was, A time of innocence a time of confidences. Long ago it must be, I have a photograph Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you... ----Simon and Garfunkel |
